About Us

About Debra: Loves music... Loves to dance.

Debra is from Katy, Texas (just west of Houston). Her father hails from West Texas, and her mother was raised in Queens, New York. To say they make for an interesting combination is putting it mildly at times. Her parents were definitely the biggest influence as far as Debra's search for fun and adventure. The family spent weekends at their lake house in Livingston, Texas where Debra climbed trees, explored wooded areas, rode 4 wheelers and spent countless hours on the family's boat water-skiing, tubing and diving from the sun deck. They did a bit of traveling - Mexico, Scotland, England - which only increased Debra's thirst for adventure.

Debra started learning sign language in junior high school after becoming friends with fellow classmates that were Deaf. In high school, she was a member of band and color guard and After high school, she moved to East Texas to go to school to study Deaf Education, and stayed for 9 years. She became involved with rodeo and worked for several years as an account executive for a local radio group. Like Billy Crystal's character in the movie City Slickers, she sold AIR!

After returning to Katy with her two beautiful boys - Ryan and Jacob - she eventually found a job working as an American Sign Language interpreter. This was when she rediscovered her passion for languages and found her niche! She took an opportunity to travel to France as a chaperon for a school field trip visit the L'Institut National de Jeunes Sourds de Paris (School for the Deaf in Paris), and they spent more than a week touring France. Debra knew by the end of this trip that her travels could not/would not end. She set her eyes on the rest of the world, and set her goal to see it all! She soon after went back to school and graduated with a 4.0 GPA (not boastful, just proud!) with a degree in American Sign Language Interpreting.

Currently, Debra is a state certified interpreter by the Texas Board of Evaluators for Interpreters (B.E.I.). She works as a video relay interpreter as well as doing community interpreting (medical appointments, school meetings, sport leagues, etc). She has also tested for her National Interpreter Certification (N.I.C.) and is still awaiting those results... stay tuned!!

PS: As of October 2011 I passed! Nationally certified interpreter right here, baby! :) :)

About Evan: He's the shiznit.

Evan grew up in Marion, Indiana. His parents were school teachers who are now retired and enjoying their retirement by traveling the world. They have been on all 7 continents, and don't seem to have any plans to slow down just yet. Their most recent adventure was to Greece in 2010, and they are heading to Norway before 2011 is done. Think the gene related to travel was passed down??

Evan is the youngest of three and has two older sisters. In high school Evan was in marching band and theater. He also marched Drum Corps with Star of Indiana. After high school Evan went to IU and "gave it the ol' college try." After a while he decided he needed to see what living outside Indiana would be like and travelled down to New Orleans, Louisiana. After what he terms as "screwing off" for a while, he realized that he needed to get a little more serious. He wanted to see more of the world and getting paid to do that wouldn't be a bad idea, right? So he joined the United States Air Force.

His first station was in Germany. He was there for a few years, and has timing would have it, was there when the wall came down!!! He was also in Somalia for a while, and he spent the better part of his 2o years in the military bouncing around the southern U.S. - Georgia, Texas, Florida and back to Texas, and he did a fair amount of vacation traveling, too – Egypt, France, Ireland, Mexico, etc. After taking his last overseas assignment to Afghanistan, he returned home he decided that 20 years was enough and retired from the Air Force, accepting a job in Indianapolis. Currently, Evan is earning two master's degrees and working with a colleague on the further development of business peer exchange group.

The Morgan Family:

Evan and Debra reside with the family (2 boys, 3 dogs, 3 cats) in Fishers, Indiana.
They both aspire to see the world. And since they are both certified divers and have a love for the water they have decided that taking the world by cruising is the way to go!

- But wait! Aren't they in Indiana?
Very astute of you - others should marvel at your keen powers of observation! Yes, they are, but not for long! The plan is to get the kids through school - only a handful of years left - and move to Florida, buy a boat (The research on boats has long since begun), and prep for live-aboard life!
